NASHVILLE, Tenn.—Siegfried Gebel was in Nashville for the World ITRA Expo to promote the upcoming launch of the English-language version of his book, An International View on Tyre Retreading, originally published two years ago in German. The 250-page reference book, which took him five years to write and research, draws on Mr. Gebel's 50 years of experience in the retreading business.
Mr. Gebel began his career at age 14 and spent two decades managing retread plants as far afield as South Africa before joining German tread rubber maker Gummiwerke Kraiburg, where he worked as a technical expert for 22 years. He retired in 1998.
Recognized as a leading technical expert on retreading, Mr. Gebel has written what is called a "complete technical reference work for the retreader," which includes: a history of retreading; technical explanations of mold cure and precure retreading processes for all tire types; production control techniques; workshop layouts; machinery; tire wear and maintenance problems; and troubleshooting techniques.
The English version of the book should be available by mid-June and will cost $80 per copy, plus air-mail postage and handling charges of $12 ($5.60 in Europe). Order from: Valebridge Publications Ltd., 30b Church Road, Burgess Hill, West Sussex, RH15 9AE, Great Britain.
