CHARLOTTE, N.C. (April 7, 2000)—Continental General Tire Inc. has inked a deal with Sears, Roebuck and Co. under which some 1,150 Sears-owned outlets will begin selling Continental- and General-brand tires this spring.
By April 30, CGT will begin supplying more than 800 Sears Automotive Centers nationwide with two General lines: the Ameri*SE and the Ameri*TE. Both of these lines are exclusive to Sears, a CGT spokeswoman said.
Sears´ 350 National Tire & Battery (NTB) outlets will begin carrying the following lines by May 31: the Continental Contact, a new entry-level all-season radial; the Continental TouringContact AS, a T-rated, all-season touring tire that is an original equiment fitment on the Ford Taurus/Mercury Sable; and the General Grabber ST, an all-season light truck radial. &Copy;
