Joseph Bernardo DEER PARK, Texas—Joseph Anthony Bernardo Jr., 46, died May 15 in Deer Park.
Mr. Bernardo owned and operated Longhorn Tire Co. in Pasadena, Texas. He founded the dealership in 1983.
Mr. Bernardo is survived by his wife, Kim, who will continue to operate Longhorn Tire. Other survivors include two stepdaughters and a stepson.
Lucien Brown
WINTER HAVEN, Fla.—Lucien "Lou" Brown, 78, died Nov. 5 in Winter Haven.
Mr. Brown joined his father at Florida Tire Supply Co. in 1953 and was owner and president of that company at the time of his retirement in 1985.
He also was a member of the Florida Independent Tire Dealers and Retreaders Association Hall of Fame.
Mr. Brown is survived by his wife, Barbara, a daughter, two sons and two stepsons.
Warren B. Garrett
GRAND ISLAND, Neb.—Warren B. Garrett, 79, died Jan. 29 in Grand Island.
Mr. Garrett founded Garrett Enterprises Inc. in 1965 and opened Wood River Truck Stop, which sold retreads and new tires, that same year. In 1973, he opened Garrett Tires and Treads, which now operates two retail/commercial/wholesale locations: one in Grand Island, and one in Hastings, Neb.
Mr. Garrett sold the truck stop in 1977, but later opened a Bandag retread shop in 1989. He retired in 1994 due to ill health.
He is survived by his wife, Theresa, two sons—one of whom, Michael, is president of the business—a daughter, four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
