RESTON, Va.—The Tire Association of North America has released its 2000 conference schedule, which kicks off Feb. 17-19 with the annual Off-the-Road Conference, at the Sheraton El Conquistador in Tucson, Ariz. The OTR Conference will feature seminars by OTR industry leaders and two major presentations:
"`Retreading and Repairing," a panel discussion moderated by Robert Purcell, president of Purcell Tire & Rubber Co., and
"Understanding Our Changing Industry," a panel discussion from OTR tire manufacturers and moderated by Al Chicago, TANA's OTR Conference chairperson.
The conference also will feature a Thursday afternoon golf outing; an evening reception courtesy of Bridgestone/Firestone Inc.; a mine equipment demonstration by Caterpillar Inc. and a live view of mining activity; and a Western-theme party sponsored by Michelin North America Inc.
Major League Baseball Hall of Famer Jim Palmer will deliver the keynote address, courtesy of Goodyear.
On April 7-9, TANA will hold a technology conference in conjunction with the annual meeting of the Virginia Tire and Automotive Service Dealers Association in Williamsburg, Va. The conference will address one of the tire industry's most pressing questions—"How can your company use technology to improve profitability?"
Jim Micali, chairman and president of Michelin North America Inc., will be TANA's guest speaker at the 2000 Global Automotive Aftermarket Symposium, to be held April 25-26 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Dearborn, Mich.
The symposium is co-sponsored by TANA, the Automotive Aftermarket Industry Association, the Specialty Equipment Market Association, the Motor Equipment Manufacturers Association and the Automotive Wholesale Distributors Association.
Mr. Micali will speak Tuesday, April 25 at 2:30 p.m. on "Customer Service After the Year 2000: Expectations and Challenges."
Registration for the symposium before Jan. 31 is $695 for TANA members and $895 for non-members.
Finally, the association will hold its annual International Tire Expo in conjunction with the SEMA show Oct. 31-Nov. 3 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
