Brake hose probed WASHINGTON—The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is investigating an estimated 150,000 1992 Ford Aerostar minivans for possible brake hose failure.
NHTSA said the vehicles' front brake hoses may rupture at the interface between the hose rubber and the brass fitting, causing loss of brake fluid and an increase in stopping distance.
The agency said it has received seven complaints about the alleged defect, including two crashes but no deaths or injuries.
Auto site a 'hit'
BETHESDA, Md.—The Weekend Mechanics Club, an auto care Web site for consumers, has recorded more than 1 million ``hits'' this year, the Automotive Aftermarket Industry Association (AAIA) said.
The AAIA operates the site, www.weekendmechanicsclub.com, which is intended to help car owners maintain and repair their vehicles. It features car care advice, information from industry experts, an extensive database to search for nearby auto parts stores and repair facilities, and a parts finder.
