NASHVILLE, Tenn.—Effective Nov. 1, Seiya Kaneko, president of Bridgestone/Firestone Inc.'s research division, will take on the additional position of president of the Bridgestone/Firestone Technology Co. division (BFTE), based in Akron. In his new capacity, Mr. Kaneko will replace Hiromi ``Mike'' Hamaya, who will retire effective Dec. 31.
Additionally, Robert Wyant and Dan R. Sauer, currently directors at BFTE, will be promoted to division vice presidents, technology.
Mr. Kaneko, 60, joined Bridgestone Corp. in Japan in 1963, serving in various managerial and professional engineering positions of increasing responsibility. He assumed the presidency of the BFS research division in 1996.
Mr. Hamaya, 60, also began his 36-year Bridgestone career in Tokyo in 1963, but the majority of his time has been spent outside Japan, primarily in the U.S. He was promoted to vice president of technology at BFS in 1991 and was named to his current position in 1993.
