Trucker benefit gets CGT support CHARLOTTE, N.C.—``18 Wheels of Hope,'' a charitable effort on behalf of America's truck drivers, recently received a truckload of support from Continental General Tire Inc.'s Commercial Division.
The project, sponsored by ComData, is said to be the largest one-day food drive in the U.S. Its goal this year was to raise 999 truckloads of food for the nation's hungry. CGT contributed the financial equivalent of two trailer loads of food (about 60,000 pounds), which will be distributed nationally by Second Harvest Food Bank.
18 Wheels of Hope culminated in a convoy of tractor trailers that rolled through Dallas on Sept. 9 as a kickoff to the Great American Trucking Show.
