TRMG names new members NASHVILLE—The Tread Rubber and Tire Repair Materials Manufacturing Group announced three new member companies—Marangoni Tread North America Inc., Michelin Retread Technologies Inc., and Vipal Rubber Corp. of Brazil.
Jack Woodland of Marangoni, Norman Ball of Michelin and Joao Carlos Paludo of Vipal will represent their respective companies on the TRMG board.
Founded in 1968, the TRMG consists of tread rubber and tire repair materials manufacturers doing business in North America.
One of its major initiatives is to support the promotion of a positive image for the retreading and repair industry and to work closely with trade associations that have similar goals.
Alabama to hold July convention
MILLBROOK, Ala.—The Alabama Tire Dealers Association will hold its annual convention at the Hampton Inn & Windmere Suites in Gulf Shores, Ala., July 22-25.
The convention will feature a reception, business meeting, a golf tournament and a beach party.
The association also will hold its first drawing of $10,000 for its new Hank McCafferty Memorial Scholarship during the convention.
The group recently renamed its scholarship after the late Mr. McCafferty, a former executive director of the ATDA.
The association awards five $1,000 scholarships annually to ATDA members and their employees.
Florida dealers hold convention
LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla.—The Florida Independent Tire Dealers and Retreaders Association elected new officers and installed two members into its Hall of Fame during its annual convention in Lake Buena Vista on June 4-5.
The group elected the following officers for 1999-2000: Dan Pereda of Boulevard Tire in Cocoa, president; Joe Kovac of Kovac Automotive in Davie, president-elect; John Tidwell of Mike Gatto Inc. in Melbourne, vice president; and Sherry Marcoe of Jeff Clay & Sons Inc. in Kissimmee, secretary/treasurer. In addition, 15 new members were elected to the board of directors.
Pam Fitzgerald, former president of the Tire Association of North America, and the late Ken Hall of BMH Tires in Fort Lauderdale were inducted into the group's Hall of Fame during the FITDRA's awards luncheon.
