New England group sells out trade show STURBRIDGE, Mass.—The New England Association of Independent Tire Dealers held its annual convention and trade show April 16-18 in Sturbridge.
Executive Director John Whiting-Grant said that for the first time in several years the association, with 97 booths, sold out booth space.
Reliable Auto Tire Co. in Hartford, Conn., received the group's first annual NEAITD President's Award, which recognizes an independent dealership that thrives despite increased competition.
The NEAITD also elected the following officers: Dick Cole of Dick Cole Tire Center, Portland, Maine, president; Robert Katz, Nu-Tread Tire, East Boston, Mass., vice president; Alan Saks, Dorchester Tire, Boston, secretary; and Larry Lesieur of Maynard & Lesieur Inc., Nashua, N.H., treasurer.
Texas dealers pick new officers
FORT WORTH, Texas—The Texas Tire Dealers Association elected new officers during its annual convention in Fort Worth April 22-24.
Herman Law, owner of Pampa, Texas-based Dorman Tire Service, was installed as the 1999-2000 TTDA president. Other newly elected officers include: Tony Montalbano of Montalbano Tire Co. Inc., Houston, president-elect; Bill Sodolak of Riverside Tire Center, Sealy, vice president; Mark Carter of Carter's Tire Center Inc., Seguin, secretary; and David Beasley, Beasley Tire Service Inc., Humble, treasurer.
