Group to 'cruise' into year 2000 TOPEKA, Kan.—To celebrate its 10th anniversary in 2000, the Mid-America Tire Dealers Association is planning a Caribbean cruise for all interested members.
The group will depart from San Juan, Puerto Rico, on the Nordic Empress Feb. 14, 2000. The trip includes stops in St. Thomas, St. Martin and St. Croix, before returning on Feb. 19.

Symposium set for May in Chicago
RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C.—Top industry leaders will forecast the global business outlook for the next century at the fourth annual Global Automotive Aftermarket Symposium.
The conference will take place May 25-26 at the Hyatt Regency O'Hare Hotel in Chicago. J. Michael Hochswender, president and CEO of Smithers Scientific Services, will discuss future trends in the tire industry.

NWTDA selects new officers
PORTLAND, Ore.—The Northwest Tire Dealers Association elected new officers for 1999 during its convention Feb. 11-12 in Portland.
The officers for the state of Washington include: Bill Bailey Jr. of Bill Bailey for Tires Inc. in Mt. Vernon, president; Tom Bolser of Specialty Tire & Wheel in Marysville, president-elect; Paul Williams of Pasco Tire Factory in Pasco, vice president; and Mike Wurdeman of Formula Tire & Materials Inc. in Marysville, secretary/treasurer.
In Oregon, the following were elected: Chris Roberg of Northwest Tire Distributors in Portland, president; Arnold Beggs of Arnold Beggs Tire in Philomath, president-elect; Bob Campbell of Bob's OK Tire in Salem, vice president; and Perry Gerber of Gerber's Tire Center in Lincoln City, director-at-large.
