CLEARWATER, Fla.—Morgan Tire & Auto Inc. has appointed Michael Hexner president and chief operating officer. Mr. Hexner, former CEO of Wheel Works in California, which was acquired by Morgan Tire Jan. 1, will aid Chairman and CEO Larry Morgan with the overall operation of the dealership. He also will oversee all marketing activities and the development of the firm's existing and next-generation point-of-sale systems.
``I am delighted to welcome Michael to the corporate team,'' Mr. Morgan said. ``He will work closely with me on all corporate matters, as well as manage several specific components of the company.''
In Florida, Morgan Tire has more than 130 locations that do business as Olson Tire Total Car Care—formerly known as Don Olson Tire & Auto Centers.
Since 1997, Morgan Tire has expanded its business into 12 states with the acquisitions of four independent dealerships comprising more than 150 outlets. These additions have caused Mr. Morgan to begin operating his company as divisions since January 1998.
Those divisions include Olson Tire; Hibdon Tire in Oklahoma; the Western division—comprising operations in California, including Wheel Works, and Nevada; Avellino's in the Northeast; and the South Central division, including Michel Tire—comprising operations in Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky and Tennessee.
Mr. Hexner's responsibilities encompass overseeing the company's new South Central and Western divisions.
Mr. Morgan also recently named Richard Sutherland president of the company's Western division, and Tony Michel, president of the South Central division.
Morgan Tire operates 287 locations nationally.
