BIRMINGHAM, England—Organizers of the International Tyre Traders Summit—the annual gathering of wholesale buyers and sellers—are arranging a similar event for the international retreading community. It will coincide with the annual Automotive Aftermarket Industry Week trade shows this fall in Las Vegas.
The event, which is being called The interTREAD Summit, is designed to bring together retreaders, casing suppliers and used tire dealers at one venue. There, participants will be able to schedule up to 40 individual half-hour meetings with other delegates throughout the three-day event, which will take place Oct. 30-Nov. 1 at the Hyatt Newporter hotel near Los Angeles International Airport.
The event is co-sponsored by Bipaver, the European federation of tire dealers and retreaders associations, and by Retreading Business Magazine, a United Kingdom-based quarterly publication.
Organizers estimate attendance for the inaugural interTREAD gathering will reach 250.
So far, more than half the available spaces have been reserved by companies from Europe, North America, South America, Asia and the Middle East, the organizers said.
This year's International Tyre Traders Summit, the third in as many years, took place April 2-4 in Barcelona, with representatives of more than 350 companies from 40 countries on hand.
Like that event, interTREAD attendance is by invitation only and approved delegates receive detailed information about other participating companies in advance of the summit in order to facilitate meeting scheduling.
In addition to the 30-minute business meetings, interTREAD also will offer delegates workshops on various topics, including regulatory restrictions on used tire imports/exports and other used tire/casing handling and storage regulations.
Anne Evans of Tyres 2000 Ltd., an international broker and reseller of tires based in Hebron, Conn., is coordinating the program and workshops.
