MUSCATINE, Iowa—Bandag Inc. plans to spend more than $10 million to construct a 72,000-sq.-ft. training and conference center in Muscatine later this year. The new facility, set to open in early 1999, will house Bandag's technical, sales and core (non-technical) training, as well as a corporate learning library, a retreading shop for training purposes, a rim reconditioning area and classrooms for computer, international communications network and tire analysis training.
The building also will feature three large classrooms designed to accommodate 30-50 people and nine breakout meeting rooms, as well as kitchen and dining facilities.
The facility will contain the latest audio-visual equipment, including video conferencing.
The company plans to move its training and development department, technical service group, organizational development department and computer operations personnel into the new facility.
Bandag will continue to use the building that currently houses its training center, but has not yet determined which departments will be housed in the older building.
