Power tools Heli-Coil, a Black & Decker Corp. company, said its Drill-Out extractor removes broken bolts and studs with the use of a power drill.
The tool features a left-hand drill bit over which a ``collet/extractor'' is fitted. Using a 3/8-inch VSR drill gun in the reverse mode, a hole is drilled into the broken bolt. The collet is then threaded into the cavity and is made to engage the bolt using the power of the electric drill.
Drill-Out works on inch fasteners from #5 to 1/2 inch and metric fasteners from M3 to M12. A micro kit is available that covers sizes from #5 to 1/4 inch and M3 to M6.
