NASHVILLE, Tenn.—Tim Saeli of Treadco Inc. in Phoenix, Ariz., recently was chosen as the top commercial tire salesman in the U.S. during the first Bridgestone/Firestone National Commercial Sales Presentation Competition. As the winner, Mr. Saeli received a trophy and a Harley-Davidson Heritage Softail motorcycle.
"One of the motivations behind this program was to help elevate the perception of sales professionals in our industry,'' said Walt Weller, BFS vice president of truck tire sales.
Representatives from 130 dealerships competed on a district level. Winners continued on to regional preliminaries where 15 were selected to represent BFS's five commercial sales regions.
The final competitions were videotaped, and copies of the tapes will be distributed to BFS dealers as an educational tool, the company said.
The contest focused on the five-step process of a successful fleet sale (the approach, inquiry, presentation, demonstration and exchange value close), the tire maker said.
Other contest finalists included Ron Hirschman, Pomp's Tire Service Inc., Chicago; Daniel Jarratt, Consolidated Tires Inc., Atlanta; Allen Kershner, Service Tire Truck Centers Inc., Bethlehem, Pa.; and Greg Trum, Cross Midwest Tire, Kansas City, Mo.
