VANCOUVER, British Columbia—After 15 years as an administrator for the Western Canadian Tire Dealers & Retreaders Association, Olive Storey is retiring March 1 as executive director. Ms. Storey, a former WCTDRA board member, began working part-time as secretary-treasurer for the association in 1982 after selling the tire dealership she and her late husband, Gordon, operated in Vancouver.
During her tenure, the association, which represents dealers in British Columbia, Alberta, Manitoba and Saskatchewan, has grown from 200 members to 800.
But it has been a ``hectic'' job, she said, as she was responsible for organizing the biennial conventions and other administrative duties. She now wants ``to pass on the reins'' and spend more time with her children and grandchildren, as well as travel.
The WCTDRA has named as her successor past-president Mel Hennig, who will resign from his post at Tirecreaft Auto Centers Ltd., Regina, Saskatchewan, to serve the association full time beginning March 15.
