A number of automotive service-related companies and organizations have recently launched or enhanced their sites on the Internet: The National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) debuted its new web site, which is located at http://www.asecert.org on the World Wide Web.
The site has information for technicians, motorists, educators and the industry at large, including details of upcoming ASE tests and registration, car care tips, industry events and activities such as motorsports. It also has e-mail links for visitors to request more information from ASE, and a list of links to other automotive web sites.
The ASE also sponsors the ``International Automotive Technicians' Network'' (iATN), an Internet-based techs' forum with multiple interactive areas where techs can network to exchange ideas, solutions and problems.
The network currently has more than 3,400 auto service professionals with access to an e-mail discussion group, web-based discussion groups, labscope waveform files, live conferencing and more.
There is no charge to join the iATN, beyond normal internet connection fees, but a tech must meet certain eligibility criteria, including ASE certification. Membership forms are available at http://www.i-atn.com.
For more information, contact ASE at: (703) 713-3800.
Cooper Automotive's new internet web site—www.cooperauto.com—features an exclusive racing club as well as ``how-to'' sections for each of its product lines.
Information is designed for do-it-yourselfers and mechanics, Cooper said, including a section on spark plugs and a 20-point safety checklist for a vehicle's lighting system.
The site also offers links to other automotive and racing web sites, and includes information on Champion Spark Plug's professional ``TechKnowledge Helpline,'' reached by calling 1-900-884-2776.
The Society of Automotive Engineers' (SAE) new internet homepage design is accessible via http://www.sae.org. It offers two new web-based products—Auto Product News, and Auto Headline News—and contains more than 8,000 pages of information with details on a wide range of SAE products, services and activities.
