DES MOINES, Iowa-The Iowa Tire Dealers Association is working with a marketing agency to develop a public relations campaign encouraging consumers to patronize independent tire dealerships, and in particular, ITDA members. ITDA President Warren Hawn, who is spearheading the campaign, and Executive Director Joe Kelly have been working with Schreurs and Associates, a local public relations/marketing firm, to develop ideas for the campaign. The association also is considering developing a set of minimum standards members must meet to participate in its planned ``Look for the logo'' marketing campaign.
Mr. Hawn has started the wheels turning by encouraging members to order select merchandise-including shirts, hats, clocks and jackets-bearing the ITDA logo.
Mr. Hawn said the promotional items are priced 20 percent higher than the association's cost, with the profits funding the public relations and logo promotion costs.
