WASHINGTON-Peter J. Pantuso, a six-year veteran of the Rubber Manufacturers Association, resigned as RMA vice president of public affairs Aug. 1 to become president and CEO of the American Bus Association. It is still too soon to discuss possible successors to Mr. Pantuso, said RMA President Thomas E. Cole.
Mr. Pantuso said he had an ``absolutely wonderful'' tenure at the RMA and ``enjoyed every minute'' of it. ``It's because of the RMA that I had the opportunity to take the position at the American Bus Association,'' he said.
The ABA, he added, is ``a first-rate association with a superb staff, wonderful members and excellent programs. I look forward to maintaining and adding to what they offer.''
Mr. Pantuso joined the RMA in 1990 as director of government relations. One year later, when the association underwent a reorganization, he was named to the newly created position of vice president of public affairs.
Before the RMA, Mr. Pantuso held government affairs positions with the National Confectioners Association, the Chocolate Manufacturers Association and the Glass Packaging Institute.
