ONTARIO, Calif.-Toyo Tire (U.S.A.) Corp. celebrated the opening of its new 300,000-sq.-ft. distribution facility in Ontario with an open house July 11. Dignitaries from Japan, including Shozo Katayama, president and CEO of Toyo Tire & Rubber Co., company employees and city officials attended the event, which included a tour of the facility.
Toyo said the warehouse, which replaces a smaller one in nearby Compton, will streamline and speed up delivery to dealers.
Instead of shipping tires direct to large dealers from Japan and other U.S. warehouses, Toyo now will ship all Japanese-made products through the new warehouse, reducing staging time in Japan, said Earl Knoper, Toyo (U.S.A.) senior vice president of marketing.
