FAIRFAX, Va.-Providing an extra level of service to self-serve customers is the aim of Mobil Oil Corp.'s ``Friendly Serve'' campaign, launched in May at participating Mobil stations in New England. The Fairfax-based petroleum company plans to add up to 1,400 new jobs in the form of Friendly Serve attendants who will greet customers at both the full-serve and self-serve islands with a smile, direct drivers to open pumps and provide a helping hand, such as cleaning windows, checking tires and fluid levels, giving directions and coaching customers on new technology at the pump.
Mobil said the program is in response to a nationwide survey in which customers said they wanted clean service stations, prompt and efficient service and friendly attendants.
