AKRON-A new CD-ROM, developed by Goodyear, provides ``an encyclopedia of truck tire and vehicle information created to assist fleets in achieving the greatest value from (their) tires,'' according to Al Cohn, Goodyear manager of commercial tire systems. The Tire Valu Calc II (TVC II) program, introduced May 16 at the International Truck Show in Las Vegas, contains the company's Tire/Vehicle Tracking System, the Goodyear Radial Truck Tire Service Manual and the company's line of farm, off-the-road, passenger and light truck tires.
Users can enter data about their tractors, trailers, dollies, fuel costs, average miles per gallon, tire mounting and dismounting costs, rotation schedules, treadwear and retread information, Mr. Cohn said. The program then creates graphs and charts to help fleet managers analyze their fleet's tire usage and optimize tire value, Goodyear said.
Users will be able to download program updates from Goodyear's World Wide Web site (www.goodyear.com), which now contains 100 pages of information on its radial and bias commercial truck tires.
