DES MOINES, Iowa-Iowa Tire Dealers Association President Warren Hawn, who was re-elected to another term during the ITDA convention in March, has some big plans this year to boost the image of the association and provide members with training and education. Mr. Hawn, of V & H Tire Co. Inc., Denison, first encouraged a redesign of the association logo, incorporating the outline of the state. The new logo is being printed on posters and bumper stickers for distribution to members. Next, he plans to launch a ``Look for the logo'' advertising campaign in the fourth quarter of 1996 to build consumer awareness of the ITDA and encourage patronage at members' dealerships.
The ITDA currently has 150 dealer and supplier members and has set a goal to sign 25 more this year. Mr. Hawn wants to establish regional meetings in three locations around the state, during which members can conduct roundtable discussions about their businesses and share strategies.
The ITDA's education committee also is planning to host an educational seminar every quarter focusing on such issues as safety training.
During its convention, the association re-elected Charlie Richardson of Johnson Tire & Muffler, Clarinda, president-elect and installed Shawn Wilkening of Allied Tire Co., Des Moines, as treasurer. New directors elected to three-year terms include: Bob Baier of Bear's Inc./OK Tire, Tama; Rex Foreman of Foreman Tire, Alton; Jim Gengler of Gengler Tire, Pocahontas; and John Linder of Linder Tire Service, Iowa City.
