LOUISVILLE, Ky.-Seeking more quality casings, passenger tire retreaders are considering conducting a survey to determine which passenger tire brands and sizes are the most retreadable. That was among several ideas discussed at a meeting April 19, organized by the Tire Retread Information Bureau (TRIB), and attended by about 44 passenger tire retreaders and suppliers.
Retreaders cited a shortage of good passenger tire casings. But rather than point out the least retreadable casings with the survey, the group chose to accentuate the positive and focus on those that are best.
``We want to put the heat on the bad guys and recognize the good guys,'' said Harvey Brodsky, TRIB managing director.
Marvin Bozarth, executive director of the ITRA, indicated the association would consider supporting such an effort, including reporting the results, if the retreaders would assemble the brands, sizes and lines to be surveyed.
Mr. Brodsky said TRIB is willing to conduct the survey.
