LOUISVILLE, Ky.-The Tread Rubber & Tire Repair Materials Group (TRMG) voted unanimously April 17 to draft a resolution supporting the General Services Administration's Federal Tire Program and that program's manager, Kenneth L. Collings Jr. The meeting preceded the World Tire Conference & Exhibition, April 18-20 in Louisville.
The GSA is considering eliminating the Federal Tire Program including testing of tires for its Qualified Products List. The TRMG wants the program to continue as is.
ITRA taps commercial tire services director
Though not scheduled to come aboard officially until May 6, the International Tire and Rubber Association's new commercial tire dealer services director, Kevin Rohlwing, was on hand for the ITRA's World Tire Conference.
The 29-year-old Illinois native will organize training programs, materials and other association activities for commercial tire dealers, many of whom also are retreaders.
He'll be guided by the ITRA's newly appointed ``Commercial Tire Dealers Steering Committee,'' chaired by Tom Raben of Raben Tire Co. in Evanston, Ind.
Born into a tire business family, Mr. Rohlwing has logged more than 14 years' service with Rohlwing Brothers Inc., the Elgin, Ill., commercial dealership founded by his grandfather and currently run by his father and uncle.
Commercial dealers offered Internet page
Commercial tire dealers can obtain a free home page on the Internet under an offer introduced at the trade show by Data View Inc., a marketer of computer software for tire tracking and other purposes.
Dealers should furnish a logo plus a description of their company and its products and services, sized to fit on an 8-1/2x11-inch sheet of paper.
