Tire Resource Systems Inc. has released two off-the-road tire cutters, capable of handling tires up to 30 inches across the tread and 128-inches in diameter: the Eagle Titan and Titan II. The 27,000-pound Eagle Titan can be towed by a 1-ton pick-up and is powered by an 80-horse-power diesel engine. A roller system and hydraulic arm position tires for cutting.
The Titan II is the ``world's largest scrap tire cutter,'' Tire Resource Systems said, and is powered by a 177-horsepower diesel engine. Once on the cutter bed, the operator can maneuver the tires with power rollers and a hydraulic positioning arm.

Shred-Tech will debut a redesigned high-torque tire shredder, the Model ST-100E, at WasteExpo in Las Vegas, May 21-23.
The Model ST-100E's ``torque tube'' body increases shredder strength and stiffness in a lower profile design. The shredder incorporates cutting chambers free of protrusions that cause material hangup, removable cleaning fingers and an automatic shaft tensioning system to maintain and hold knife stack tightness to decrease operating and maintenance costs, according to Ontario-based Shred-Tech.

The new TRW idler arms from Federal-Mogul Corp. reduce premature idler arm wear on 1985-1995 Chevrolet Astro and GMC Safari two-wheel-drive vans, the company said.
Idler arms unable to handle the demands of these vehicles can cause excessive play in steering, uneven tire wear, front-end vibration, shimmy and other steering-and suspension-related wear problems, according to Federal-Mogul.
The low-friction arms for the Chevy Astro and GMC Safari vans (No. 190132HD and 190133HD for 1990-1995 12-mm bolt models and 18874HD and 18875HD for 1985-1990, 10-mm bolt models) feature an internal socket design with a forged steel shaft fitted against a steel-backed, bronze- and Teflon-impregnated nylon bearing.
