NATCHEZ, Miss.-Union workers made gains in wages and benefits while avoiding a threatened strike at Fidelity Tire Manufacturing Co. The company and Rubber Workers Local 303, which staffs Fidelity's sole plant in Natchez, reached agreement March 23 on a three-year contract, retroactive to March 16, when the two parties' former accord expired, according to a union official.
Goodyear plans debt securities sale
AKRON-Goodyear filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission to sell up to $500 million in debt securities.
According to the filing, the tire maker plans to use sale proceeds for general corporate purposes, including debt repayment, future acquisitions, capital expenditures and working capital.
