ASAMI debuts 'crash' course on legal system
BEDFORD, Texas-The Automotive Service Association Management Institute (ASAMI) will debut an advanced business management course, ``Don't get stalled in the legal system,'' during the ASA annual convention, April 21-24, in Washington, D.C.
The seminar, designed for Accredited Automotive Managers, will be a ``crash'' course on the complexities of the legal system and its impact on business, the ASAMI said. Topics will include an overview of the courts, case preparation, warranties, bad checks, bad debts and bankruptcy.

ARA show to debut new-tire showcase
LOUISVILLE, Ky.-The American Retreaders Association will debut a ``Circle of Excellence'' exhibit where new-tire manufacturers may showcase their products during its World Tire Conference & Exhibition, April 17-20, in Louisville.
The ARA said it is including the display to ``recognize companies that produce high quality tires and who have been instrumental in the tremendous growth of the retread segment of the industry through the years.''

The ARA also announced a new membership service available just in time for the conference. The association has teamed up with SkyTel to offer messaging pager service. The Tire Dealers Association of Canada elected Les Beatty of Cramer Distributors Inc., Islington, Ontario, to a four-year term as president during its convention, Feb. 14-17, in Vancouver, British Columbia.
The Western Canadian Tire Dealers & Retreaders Association has tapped Tom Irving of Irving Tire Ltd., Vancouver, British Columbia, to fill the vacant post of vice president. The association will elect a new slate of officers at its convention next February.
During its annual convention, Feb. 23-24, in Oshkosh, Wis., the Wisconsin Independent Tire Dealers & Retreaders Association added new members to its board of directors, including: Brian Anderson of Grey Products, Durand; Mark Beck of Baltus Co., Marshfield; Jim Lien of Bauer Built Inc., Durand; Tim Ripp of Fox Tire Co.
