Keeping up with the increasingly fast-paced changes in our industry isn't easy for tire dealers and retreaders or, for that matter, the editors of TIRE BUSINESS.But keep up we must if we hope to provide you, our readers, with the timely and accurate information necessary to make knowledgeable business decisions. That's why I'm excited about our Rapid ResponseZielasko
Fax Poll, which premiers on page 1 of this issue.
It's designed to present you with more up-to-date information than before about regional and national market conditions and business trends-all on a quarterly basis.
I liken it to a Business Barometer for tire dealers and retreaders.
What makes the Fax Poll reader friendly is that it's a cooperative effort involving your peers.
About 50 dealers nationwide, representing a cross-section of businesses, are participating in the Fax Poll and will be sending back information within 24 hours of receiving a questionnaire.
We'll publish the results, in aggregate, in our very next issue, putting the information into your hands within days of receiving it.
In addition to answering a question about general market conditions, Fax Poll participants will furnish data about their own dealership's tire sales, automotive service sales, retail prices, cost of doing business etc.
And they'll offer their forecast for these same business segments for the coming quarter.
We'll even use the Fax Poll to get a ``Rapid Response'' on hot industry topics.
It's all aimed at keeping you better informed about the changes taking place in your region and across North America.
Coordinating the TIRE BUSINESS Rapid Response Fax Poll is Managing Editor Larry Wingert and Reporter Greg Kennedy. Over the past few months, they've organized the team of participating dealers and will be developing and tabulating the questionnaires.
Let them know what you think of the Fax Poll, whether it's useful, what you'd like to see changed, topics you'd like discussed and whether you'd like to participate. Your suggestions are important and will make the Fax Poll all the more effective.
I'd also like to thank those dealers who are already part of the Fax Poll survey group. You're cooperation is crucial to making the Fax Poll work.
