HOPE, Ark.-Hervey Ayers Holt, 85, retired owner of Hamm Tire and Appliance Co. in Hope, died Nov. 16 of pneumonia in a local nursing home. Mr. Holt owned the single-location Goodyear tire and General Electric appliance dealership from 1945 until he closed it in 1979 when he retired.
He leaves his wife, Jeanette Citty Holt, a sister and a nephew.
CAMINO ISLAND, Wash.-Tom Krahn, 51, owner of Eastside Tire & Muffler, died Nov. 29 of a heart attack in his Camino Island home. Mr. Kahn was a part-owner of a Shell gas station and mini-mart in Kirkland, Wash., until he bought out the operation in 1969. He renamed it Eastside Tire & Muffler and continued to sell gas and other items through the 1970s, according to current manager Gary Yates.
Eastside Tire also operates full-service tire and auto stores in Snohomish and Standwood, Wash.
Survivors include Mr. Krahn's wife, Marilyn, Eastside Tire owner; two sons; two daughters; and a son-in-law, Shawn Poteet, who owns the Snohomish outlet.
