BEDFORD, Texas-The Automotive Service Association Management Institute (ASAMI) has launched a self-study, multi-media formatted ``Automotive Service Management Course'' as part of its core curriculum. The course includes six self-study text booklets that cover education in sales and marketing, personnel management and business management, as well as a video featuring automotive shop owners' perspectives on effective shop management.
As of Jan. 1, ASAMI students with fewer than 60 credits will be required to take this course to qualify for achieving the Accredited Automotive Manager (AAM) designation.
ASAMI also has developed a course on improved inventory control for shop owners and managers.
The three-hour session addresses modern inventory levels, purchasing skills, electronic management and the systems available, and how to increase the shop's profits by managing inventory effectively.
