HAZELWOOD, Mo.-Treadco Inc. officially opened its ``mini tire remanufacturing factory'' in Hazelwood, outside of St. Louis, Dec. 5-the first plant in North America to use Bridgestone Corp.'s Oncor Tread Renewal System. Under the joint venture, Treadco, North America's largest independent retreader, will operate the mold-cure facility to retread medium truck tires, while Bridgestone/Firestone Inc. will provide the technology and the tread rubber.
The operation, located in a 65,000-sq.-ft. former BFS commercial tire facility, initially is expected to produce 200 retreads daily at the outset, with a maximum capacity of 600 per day.
