Tires Plus Groupe Inc. has become one of the first North American dealerships to open a World Wide Web site on the Internet information superhighway. Customers tapping into the site can learn about new products, general tire information, franchise and employment opportunities and determine the location of the nearest Tires Plus outlet.

The Burnsville, Minn.-based company also announced 9-year-old Anna Johnson, of Brighton, Minn., won the company's Safe & Sober Kid's Patrol Coloring Contest for the poster she created to discourage drunken driving.
Tire America, a subsidiary of the Sears Automotive Groupe, opened its 18th location in the Chicago area Nov. 6.
The 9,800-sq.-ft., seven-bay outlet, located on Highway 14 in suburban Crystal Lake, features a new store design that eliminates the service counter and replaces it with individual kiosks where customers and employees can interact, according to the company.
Brian Krueger, former manager of a Tire America location in Bloomington, Ill., has been named manager of the Crystal Lake store.
Tire America now operates 123 stores in 15 states.
Parnelli Jones Inc. recently opened an outlet in downtown Reno, Nev., under the Im-Pruv-All Tire Store banner.
Former Oakland Raiders quarterback Jim Plunkett helped open the 4,600-sq.-ft. store, which is the fifth Parnelli Jones store in northern Nevada and the company's 94th overall.
Parnelli Jones is the 11th-largest retail dealership in North America, based on 1994 sales of $59 million.
Roanoke, Va.-based White Tire Distributors Inc. recently pur-chased Lucas Tire Co. Inc., also of Roanoke.
Former owner Van Lucas will work at a Roanoke outlet White Tire purchased earlier this year from Bogle Tire Co. Inc.
The Lucas Tire acquisition will add $1 million to the company's $35 million in annual sales, and will put White Tire into the off-the-road and earthmover tire business in the Roanoke area.
