WASHINGTON-Would you like your shop featured during a program to interest students in an automotive service career? MAP-the Motorist Assurance Program-is presenting two live, nationally broadcast satellite video conferences focusing on education and careers in the automotive maintenance and repair industry.
Aimed at junior college, high school and junior high students, the programs will be held Oct. 19 and Nov. 15.
Montgomery Ward and Pep Boys have already offered their facilities, and MAP is looking for other volunteer companies. Also needed are manufacturers and others interested in helping sponsor the teleconferences by contributing $2,000 or more toward the establishment of downlink sites in as many schools as possible.
The first conference will provide an introduction to auto repair; the second will offer opportunities for school and industry educators to learn about the state-of-the-art education required for service technicians.
For more information, or to participate, contact Larry Hecker, MAP president, at (202) 466-7050; or the National TeleLearning Network, (800) 432-3286.
