CALGARY, Alberta-The new owner of Alberta Tire Collection Inc. has big plans for the province's largest used tire collector. Alberta Waste Resources and Energy Corp. bought Alberta Tire for an undisclosed price July 1.
Now the parent company plans to invest $1.5 million (U.S. dollars) in an upcoming expansion that will include new equipment and personnel, according to Frederick Cooke, Alberta Waste president.
Alberta Tire shreds tires at two centers, in Edmonton and Calgary, Alberta, for resale to end- users throughout the province.
Alberta Waste, which had no brick and mortar assets at its founding, had listed on the Alberta Stock Exchange to gain financing for acquisitions.
