FULLERTON, Calif.-Yokohama Tire Corp. recently took ``Best of Show'' honors and six other awards at the 1995 Business Marketing Association Tower Awards competition in Cleveland. Yokohama received the ``Best of Show'' award for the self-paced training program-Excellence through Certification and Education (EXCEED)-it developed last year. The Fullerton-based company said it expects 2,000 of its dealers to complete the program by the end of this year.
The firm's brochure series, its AVID high performance tire line pamphlet and its four-page Super Premium Ad Insert also received awards during the competition.
BFS snters 8th year of soap box derby
NASHVILLE, Tenn.-For the eighth straight year, Bridgestone/Firestone Inc. is sponsoring the Public Broadcasting Service's national telecast of the All American Soap Box Derby.
The event, which will involve more than 200 young people, is scheduled to take place Aug. 5 in Akron. BFS also has sent its 1995-edition derby poster to Firestone dealers and store managers nationwide.
Eagle Aquatred wins marketing award.
AKRON-Goodyear's Eagle Aquatred marketing campaign received a silver EFFIE award from the American Marketing Association in New York.
The Akron-based tire maker's marketing campaign featured TV ads that included six water skiers being pulled through water by an Eagle-Aquatred-shod sports car.
Porsche team takes One Lap of America
NASHVILLE, Tenn.-David Murry won the 1995 Bridgestone/Car and Driver One Lap of America race, June 11-17.
Mr. Murry, who won the 1994 IMSA Grand Sports Firestone Firehawk Championship, drove a 1996 Porsche 911 Turbo fitted with Potenza S-02 tires, competing against 84 other teams on 4,000 miles of open roads across the U.S.
