WASHINGTON-The National Tire Dealers & Retreaders Association has announced two new promotional features for its Money Express credit card program. The ``Firecracker Special'' promotion, which will run June 30 to Aug. 13, gives dealers the opportunity to offer customers a six-month-same-as-cash purchase plan with a 1.85-percent merchant discount fee.
A free in-store sign package, tips on selling the program and advertising slicks will be sent to dealers during the promotion, along with coupons that can be used for discounts, free oil changes or tire rotations/balances.
Dealers will also get a $3 rebate for every approved application during the promotion period.
In August, the association will kick off the ``Fall Express'' direct mail promotion providing $1,000 of pre-approved credit for 1,000 customers within a three-mile radius of each Money Express dealership. Customers need only sign up for the credit at the dealership. No further processing is required, the NTDRA said.
Bank One, Dayton, co-sponsor of the Money Express program, pays the credit bureau and program development costs. Participating dealers will pay 60 cents per pre-approved customer in their area, the NTDRA said.
Follow-up direct mail and telemarketing will be available to participating dealers during the promotion, which runs Aug. 21 through Oct. 13.
The NTDRA will announce another new program for Preferred Customers during its convention in New Orleans, officials said.
