CAROLINA BEACH, N.C.-The North Carolina Tire Dealers & Retreaders Association installed Gary Baldree of Baldree's Inc., New Bern, president during the group's annual meeting in Research Triangle Park, March 18. The association also elected Jerry Phillips of Avery County Recapping, Newland, president-elect; Reece Hester of Tire Supply, Raleigh, vice president; and Curtis Potter of Potter Oil & Tire, Aurora, secretary/treasurer.

The NCTDRA and the Virginia Tire & Automotive Service Dealers Association have slated their 1996 joint convention at the Omni Hotel in Charlottesville, Va., March 15-17.
1st regional show to host panel
MODESTO, Calif.-The California Tire Dealers & Retreaders Association-North is hoping to draw attendees from 13 western states to its first Western Region Convention & Trade Show, May 18-20.
The convention, at the Nugget Hotel in Sparks, Nev., near Reno, will include an industry leadership panel discussion and business management seminars.
The industry panel will comprise John Lampe, president of Bridgestone/Firestone Tire Sales Co.; John Fahl, president of Cooper Tire & Rubber Co.'s tire operations; Lee Fiedler, president and CEO of Kelly-Springfield Tire Co.; and David Schaub, president and CEO of Michelin Americas Small Tires. They will discuss future opportunities for the tire industry, dealer profitability, scrap tire issues and adapting to changes in the industry and economy.
Bill Dimalanta, ``The Coach,'' will present a session on how dealers can maximize their business sales and profits; Rocky Bleier, who overcame Vietnam War injuries to become a running back for the Pittsburgh Steelers, will discuss surmounting challenges; and consultant Arte Maren will conduct a workshop on ``The Fundamentals of Business Growth.''

Kan. TDA elects new directors
TOPEKA, Kan.-The Kansas Tire Dealers Association elected six directors for two-year terms during its annual meeting in Wichita, March 11-12.
The new directors include: Gary DeShazer of D*&*D Tire Center, Scranton; Floyd Gruver of Brown Co. Co-op, Hiawatha; Gerald Miller of Miller's Automotive, McPherson; Kenny Peebles of McGrew Tire Co., Junction City; Marvin Weber of Weber Tire Co., Herington; and C.R. Worthing of Wamego Supply, Wamego.
The terms begin July 1, the start of the association's 1995 fiscal year, at which time new officers will be elected.
ASA taps Kottschade chairman

Triad to offer new ASA benefit
BEDFORD, Texas-The Automotive Service Association has announced a new benefit for its members: a specially arranged discount for Triad Systems Corp.'s shop management systems, including its computerized point-of-sale system.
The Triad ServiceWriter point-of-sale system integrates all aspects of a service dealer's business, from creating estimates and work orders to electronic parts ordering, accounting and customer follow-up, according to ASA.
