LE CASTELLET, France-Michelin has launched its reduced-rolling resistance ``green,'' tires in France, Iberia and the United Kingdom one year after introducing them in the Germanic countries and Scandinavia. Michelin said its ``green'' tires have sold well since their introduction but declined to discuss market share.
The tire maker also said it currently is working on ``green'' technology for truck tires but declined to indicate a timetable for their introduction in Europe.
European price hike announced
FRANKFURT-Goodyear has joined other tire makers in Europe in announcing tire price hikes of up to 16 percent as a result of spiraling raw materials costs, effective between March 1 and May 1.
In February, Groupe Michelin said it would boost prices up to 4 percent, depending on the product and country.
Recently, German rubber product manufacturers said they needed to raise prices for their goods by 10 to 12 percent in order to compensate for the increases in raw materials prices during the past 15 months.
