AUSTIN, Texas-Two chapters of the Texas Tire Dealers & Retreaders Association have elected officers for 1995. The Greater Gulf Coast Chapter tapped: A.J. Ragusa of Delta Tire & Supply in Houston, president; John Doherty, Pat Hogan Service Inc., Galveston, vice president; and Bob Beasley, Beasley Tire Service, Houston, secretary-treasurer.
Meanwhile, the North Texas Tire Dealers Association selected: Kathy Tharp of Tharp Tire Inc. in Mesquite, president; J.W. Barrow, J.W. Barrow Tire Co., Terrell, vice president; and Kim Harris, Tire Town, Waxahachie, secretary-treasurer.
SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS SENT
WASHINGTON-National Tire Dealers & Retreaders Association President Jim Faught is urging association members to make their employees aware of the new Michelin/NTDRA Scholarship Program, applications for which have been mailed to all members of the association.
The program, first announced at the 1994 NTDRA convention in Dallas, will annually award three scholarships-one for $2,500 per year; two for $1,250 per year-to high school seniors who are part-time employees of NTDRA member firms or dependent children of full-time employees, and who have cumulative grade point averages of at least 3.0 (or equivalent).
The program is independently managed on behalf of Michelin Americas Small Tires and the NTDRA by Citizen's Scholarship Foundation of America Inc. The deadline to apply for the 1995 scholarships is Feb. 28.
The awards, which are renewable for up to four years, may be used to pursue post-secondary, undergraduate education at an accredited two- or four-year college, university or vocational-technical school.

LITDA ADDS BOARD MEMBERS
DENHAM SPRINGS, La.-The Louisiana Independent Tire Dealers Association has appointed Neal Fontenot of Larry's Tire Service in Eunice to the group's board of directors, and has tapped three supplier representatives to serve on its suppliers advisory board.
The new suppliers advisory board members are: Randy Baldini of Baldini and Associates, a business insurance agency in Ponchatoula, La.; Chip Mitchell of Gibson Recycling Co. in Atlanta, Texas; and Wes Swanford of Myers Tire Supply Co. in Kenner, La.

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C.-The Motor & Equipment Manufacturers Association (MEMA) is compiling a comprehensive database of national and international events of interest to automotive industry suppliers, which should help event planners avoid potential conflicts.
Event dates are available to anyone through a toll-free number: 800-CAR-GO-55 (227-4655). Eventually, the information will be available via computer, MEMA said.

COMPLIANCE SEMINARS PLANNED
TOPEKA, Kan.-In response to requests from members, the Kansas Tire Dealers Association has organized a seminar to review Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations and state scrap tire laws, so that dealers can be sure they are in compliance.
The three-hour seminar will be presented twice: Jan. 18 at the Ramada Inn Down Town in Topeka; Jan. 21 at the Red Coach Inn in Salina. Both sessions will start at 4:30 p.m.
The program will be divided into three segments: OSHA's final rule on asbestos and its impact on brake and clutch service; Kansas' scrap tire laws and regulations; and general OSHA regulations that apply to tire dealerships and automotive repair shops.
