WASHINGTON-The Rubber Manufacturers Association is continuing to extend its mass mailing program of free tire care, service and safety publications to thosewho sell, service and repair tires. Next year, the RMA will focus its mailings on service stations, said Gloria Bartholomew, manager, technical and standards for the association and coordinator of the program.
In 1993, the program's first year, the RMA sent packets to 25,000 independent tire dealers, and this year the emphasis was on mass merchandisers and dealer-ships missed in the first mailing.
``We got a wonderful response from tire dealers,'' she said.
Ms. Bartholomew said the RMA's objective is to provide safety information to all those who work with tires.
``There's a real need for these businesses to have information on mounting and demounting, puncture procedures as well as general information on tires because they don't get high focus and attention,'' she said.
The manuals, bulletins and charts the RMA provides include:
``Care & Service of Automobile and Light Truck Tires'';
``Care & Service of Highway Truck Tires'';
``Demounting & Mounting Procedures for Automobile and Light Truck Tires'';
``Demounting & Mounting Procedures for Truck/Bus Tires'';
``Multipiece Rim Matching Chart'';
``Replacement Guide for Passenger Car Tires'';
``Puncture Repair Procedures for Automobile & Light Truck Tires'';
``Truck Tire Puncture Repair Procedures'';
``Speed Ratings for Passenger Car Tires''; and
``Speed Ratings for Radial Light Truck Tires.''
