CHICAGO-Representatives of the National Tire Dealers & Retreaders Association and the American Retreaders' Association met Nov. 7 in Chicago to discuss ways the two groups could cooperate or combine services and activities. The two associations declined to provide details of the discussions until they issue a joint press release, expected within a week, but three attendees characterized the talks as cordial and productive.
The meeting was expected to explore areas where the two groups could combine their efforts, such as membership programs, certification and training programs and even trade show events, according to NTDRA officials.
ARA Executive Director Marvin Bozarth said he was encouraged by the discussions, which included an overview of each association's programs, accomplishments and problems.
The conferees, who included four directors and a staff member from each association, are expected to meet again after the first of the year, possibly in conjunction with the ARA's winter board meeting in Florida, Mr. Bozarth said.
The meeting stemmed from an invitation by the NTDRA to the ARA board last June.
