CLEVELAND-Barry Thomas Berlin, 36, a 10-year veteran of Goodyear's public affairs department, died of cancer Oct. 19 at University Hospitals in Cleveland. Mr. Berlin joined Goodyear's Kelly-Springfield Tire Co. subsidiary in 1984 as public relations manager for its Fayetteville, N.C., tire plant.
In 1989 Mr. Berlin transferred to Goodyear's corporate headquarters in Akron where he was named senior community relations representative and, later, public relations manager for consumer tires.
In 1992, Mr. Berlin became editor of Goodyear's Consumer Focus publication for field sales and distribution employees.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara, and two children.
George Heslep Jr.
SACRAMENTO, Calif.-George H. Heslep Jr., 62, president and co-owner of Mid-State Tire Warehouse Inc., died of cancer Sept. 24 in Mercy General Hospital in Sacramento.
Mr. Heslep began his career in 1959 working for a Goodyear store in Minneapolis and later for a General Tire store in Chico, Calif.
In 1972, Mr. Heslep and Robert Huff co-founded Mid-State in Fresno, Calif. They expanded the wholesale operation into Modesto, Merced, and Sacramento and developed a dealer base throughout Northern California. Mr. Huff has assumed full ownership of the firm.
Mr. Heslep, a member of the California Tire Dealers & Retreaders Association-North and National Tire Dealers & Retreaders Association, is survived by his wife, Eileen, two sons and a stepson.
