CHARLOTTE, N.C.-North America's largest off-the-road tire retreader, Brad Ragan Inc., acquired the seventh-largest-Schultz's Inc. of Delano, Pa.-Sept. 28. Herb Schultz, 64, said he was planning to retire and so accepted the buyout offer for his 69-year-old firm. Terms were not disclosed.
Schultz's only plant, a 109,000-sq.-ft. mold-cure retreading facility in Delano, will become Brad Ragan's primary source for mold cure retreads and will expand Brad Ragan's overall retreading and repair capacity by about 25 percent, the Charlotte-based firm said.
Brad Ragan, a Goodyear subsidiary, operates eight OTR plants and uses mold, Cut-Tread and Band-Lug retreading processes.
