NEW HAVEN, Conn.-Pirelli Armstrong Tire Corp. has cut more than 30 managerial and staff positions from its corporate headquarters after exiting the North American farm tire market in July. About 230 employees had worked in the tire maker's New Haven-based headquarters prior to the company's July 16 sale of its Des Moines, Iowa, farm tire plant to Titan Tire Corp., a PATC spokesman said.
That number has now been reduced to less than 200.
The company spokesman would not elaborate on the exact number or types of positions eliminated, but said all of the cuts were related to its farm tire business.
``We downsized by selling our farm tire business to focus on our core business of car and light truck tires,'' he explained.
