RACINE, Wis.-In time for the fall car-care season, Walker Manufacturing has begun offering a $10 rebate to consumers on the purchase and installation of a Walker Advantage Muffler. The program, which runs through Oct. 31, is available through participating Advantage Plus dealers. It should benefit Walker customers by helping them sell product, and ``provides the consumer with an incentive during a key vehicle maintenance period,'' according to Harvey Diedrich, Walker's manager of advertising and promotions.
Refrigerant sales restrictions to begin
BETHESDA, Md.-Beginning Nov. 14, it is illegal under federal law to sell any size refrigerant-whether for stationary or motor vehicle uses-to firms which do not employ certified individuals, unless the purchase is for resale.
Also, as of that date, sellers of refrigerant must retain for three years invoices that contain the name of the purchaser, date of sale and quantity of refrigerant purchased. No recordkeeping is required for purchases by certified technicians of less-than-20-pound containers of R-12.
