DALLAS-Michelin North America and the National Tire Dealers & Retreaders Association announced the creation of a joint scholarship program during the NTDRA's 74th convention in Dallas. Starting at the 1995 NTDRA convention, one $10,000 and two $5,000 scholarships will be awarded annually to high school seniors planning to attend a university, college or vocational/technical school and have a parent or are themselves an employee of an NTDRA-member business.
The scholarships will be awarded based on academic performance, good citizenship and community involvement, said David Schaub, president and COO of Michelin Americas Small Tires.
``These scholarships provide an opportunity to support what we believe is important to the future of our country: the development of well-educated leaders who believe in giving back to the community,'' Mr. Schaub said.
Application forms will be available beginning Oct. 10.
