NEW HAVEN, Conn.-The Pirelli Winter 210/P radial bested eight other leading European- and Japanese-made snow tires in tests conducted in the Italian Alps by Gente e Motori, a leading Italian motoring magazine. As reported by Pirelli Armstrong Tire Corp., the tests were run on a fixed course using a rear-wheel-drive BMW 316i coupe fitted with an on-board accelerometer to measure longitudinal and lateral acceleration and braking.
The professional drivers' opinion of the tires' startline grip, handling on snow, steering response and driving comfort also was factored into the ratings.
The others tires tested were, alphabetically: the Bridgestone WT11, Continental Sport Contact, Fulda Kristal 3000, Goodyear Eagle GW, Kleber Krisalp, Michelin X M+S 330, Uniroyal M+S Plus 3 and the Yokohama Winter S480.
