ORLANDO, Fla.-A former Goodyear dealer in Mississippi has been appointed president of Allied Tire Sales Inc., an Orlando-based retail tire chain wholly owned by Dunlop Tire Corp. On March 1, Allen C. Gordy took the reigns of Allied Tire after serving as the retail unit's director of marketing since November 1993.
Mr. Gordy replaces Phil Marrett, who returned to his position as vice president of sales for Dunlop, based in Atlanta, after serving with Allied on special assignment.
Prior to joining Allied, Mr. Gordy was business development manager in Dunlop's Southeast regional office.
For 18 years prior to joining the tire maker, he was president of Service Car Care, an independent Goodyear tire dealership in southern Mississippi.
Mr. Gordy said Allied, whose 45 retail outlets do business as Allied Discounts Tires & Service, plans to increase sales through the end of 1994, but declined to comment further until he becomes more familiar with the strengths and weaknesses of the Allied operation.
