ORANGE, Calif.-Arthur W. Hudson, former owner of Hudson and Odom Tire Co. and a member of the American Retreaders' Association International Tire Retreading and Repairing Hall of Fame, died Aug. 27 in St. Joseph Hospital after an apparent heart attack. He was 65.
Mr. Hudson founded Hudson and Odom Tire in Kansas City, Kan., in 1963 with partners Bill and Frank Odom. Four years later, the three opened a second wholesale truck and OTR retreading operation in Fullerton, Calif.
In 1983 and 1984, the two plants were sold, and Mr. Hudson became a retread consultant.
He designed a number of retreading systems and shop machines for OTR plants that reduced labor and increased productivity. For his contributions to the industry, Mr. Hudson was inducted into the retreading Hall of Fame in April.
Survivors include his wife, Josephine, a son and a daughter.
